I’m a member of the cat friendly practice Advisory Council

I am honored to announce that I have been asked to serve as a member of the American association of Feline Practitioners‘ cat friendly practice Advisory Council.

The cat friendly practice program offers an opportunity for veterinary practices to elevate care for cats and decrease the tension associated with the visit.

This initiative is near and dear to my heart. In my years in working in veterinary practices, I’ve seen far too numerous cats who didn’t get the care they deserved because veterinary staff didn’t have the resources, training and tools to really understand that cats are not small dogs, and that they need to be treated differently.

Being a member of this council will give me an opportunity to offer assistance and contribute to the program’s content and resources. I’ll also get information of any new program resources or information.

I’m thrilled about this fantastic opportunity because it will increase my ability to impact feline health and well being through educating both cat guardians and veterinary teams.

And of course, I will keep you updated on any and all information from either this advisory council or the AAFP in general that can help you make your cats’ lives happier and healthier.

This is wonderful. Congratulations! When I first moved to the town I am in now, I had a hard time finding a vet who really knew how to deal with cats.

Congratulations, Ingrid!! They couldn’t have asked anybody better to join the Council. I have no doubt that you will be an asset to the Council and that you will work to improve the care of kitties.

I’m not sure if our new vet is at a cat-friendly practice, but they did have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs (which was really good because Carmine is nervous enough at the vet as is) and the staff were all very gentle with my baby. They seemed to be understanding of Milita’s anxiety and worry when I talked about how they might work with her as well. We’ll see how that goes next month.

Congratulations, again. I’m really pleased for you!
